SUMMARY
This chapter mostly surrounds Aunt Alexandra, who decides to stay with the Finch's for a while, to give them a "feminine influence". Maycomb County welcomes Aunt Alexandra and several local ladies bake her cakes and have her over for coffee, eventually she becomes a part of the town's social life. Aunt Alexandra taught Scout about the history of Maycomb's familes and states that the Finch family is sits atop of the "caste system" that exists in Maycomb. Alexandra urges Atticus to teach Jem and Scout how to act like a gentleman and a lady. At first, Atticus agrees bu quickly changes his mind.
